We met Gemma a few years ago when she was visiting her partner’s family here in Kos. As David is Greek by birth, he and his family were very keen to hold a traditional Greek wedding for him and Gemma. They chose a very pretty, very old chapel in the rolling hills behind Kos Town and as a reception venue the very exclusive Michelangelo Resort and Spa in Psalidi. The combination of the two locations created a simply eclectic and unique wedding day and night. Although Gemma was not familiar with the traditional Greek traditions and customs, she absolutely breezed through the Orthodox marriage ceremony. David’s family looked on with tangible pride. The outdoor ceremony was beautiful and then afterwards the party moved on to the very gorgeous venue where they were received on the cliff-top gardens overlooking the magnificent dusky Aegean, and sipped champagne as the light dwindled. The evening then took us to the private a’la carte restaurant beside the infinity pool which could only be described as perfect. The quintessentially Greek live music was the soundtrack to the banquet that was offered, and then the chairs were kicked back and David took to the DJ booth to stun us with his truly talented MC’ing!! The whole day and night were quite stressful for us in the lead-up to the event as a Greek Orthodox wedding is so very different to a civil wedding, and is steeped in so much tradition that we simply had to get it right. Which we did 🙂 The reception was held at one of our new partner venues and they did not fail to impress. All in all, a wonderfully fun couple from two amazing families, and all-round tremendous event planning from WeddingsinKos!!!
